Copic Information

There are lots of great sites that talk about copics: the best place to buy them, the best paper to color on, the best ink to stamp with, etc. I learned most of what I know once upon a time from Sparkle's blog and her info on copics. If you're looking for that kind of stuff I suggest checking out what she's compiled. For reference, however, here is my list of personal preferences in regard to my copics:
  • I buy all my copics from Oozak. I keep a running list of markers or refills I need and place an order when I have enough to qualify for free shipping ($50).
  • I use Neenah Classic Crest Cardstock #80 in Solar White (for matching white papers) and Natural White (for matching off-white papers such as October Afternoon). I purchase it by the ream at my local Kelly Paper store.
  • I color dark to light blending upwards, then go back and deepen my shadows if needed.
  • I use Memento Tuxedo Black ink when I want to stamp something and color it right away, and I use Brilliance Graphite Black ink when I have time to let the image dry (at least 2 hours). I find that the Brilliance stamps more clearly and a deeper black than the Memento.
I mostly wanted to set up this page as a replacement for my individualized copic marker breakdown that used to accompany each post. Since I tend to be a person of habit, I reach for the same colors over and over again for things that don't often change: hair, skin, etc. These are examples of the colors I use most of the time:
